Diving in to the one piece swimsuit trend

It's not summer I know but who can resist to go on a vacation for a quick city getaway. Destination - a spa resort, and we want to be dressed location appropriate so this means wearing a swimwear.  I'll admit, I'm a bit (more) anxious now to wear bathing suit, after moving to a new country, a part of adjusting and coping means stress eating, thus the weight gain. But this trip has given me a good reason to find the right bathing suit that is comfortable to wear and make me look great too. That being said, so thankful for the revival of the one piece bathing suits. A few years back perceived as the "mom/ old lady swimwear" is now the hottest style on beachwear. Get to know what I pick, and my other one piece swimwear suggestions and where to get them below.

Black Crochet Open Back Monokini Swimsuit from Maykool @ $24.99 , it also comes in white.

Also from Maykool, green strapless one piece
for $21.99

Blue lace up one piece also for $21.99
Strapless, printed, color blocked or graphic styled – one piece swimwear doesn’t longer mean you’re a serious swimmer or body conscious, there are many styles out there which you can choose that will remind you that maybe 2 piece ones aren't always the best pick.

Beach Bling: Metallic Tattoos

Summer is really here, and I bet you've just been on a swimming trip last holiday. It’s been really a while since I've been to the beach so last Easter Sunday together with friends we hit the beach.  The long hour drive and the fear of leaving something behind whenever on a vacation (wink …becoming forgetful), I do not bring gold or precious jewelry on trips. Have the same fear as mine? If you have, this latest trend is really a must have for your future getaway, concert or party event that you're planning to go to.  Ladies have you tried Metallic tattoos?

They're so cute, no need to worry
about missing a piece of jewelry when
on vacation!

Oh hi Bey!

Metallic tattoos are very pretty and chic, they can be worn by itself or match it with your other fashion accessories, and they really look adorable.  They can be worn as a necklace, bracelet, ring, anklet and just anywhere! Tattoos are not just for kids anymore, I’ve seen them a lot on TV, magazines, celebrities, fashion bloggers and models. They are pretty easy to put on, just make sure you skin is free from oil or creams, remove the clear cover and position the design carefully, press with wet cloth to transfer and let design set. It can last up to a week.

You can order them online or  purchase it from your favorite accessory shops.

My sidewalk surfer from Sanuk

It’s the most awaited time of the year again girls, I’m sure you are now preparing your house to get that Christmas thing going on and starting a list of what to give family and friends this holiday.  Gift shopping is definitely on the weekend agenda right?  Yes, guilty of that, and I felt it’s an excuse to get flats that will help me navigate malls easily.

I was lucky to find this comfy sidewalk surfer shoes from Sanuk. What’s best is its 50% off! What a way to start my Christmas shopping.

I like to wear flip flops or sandals whenever I go to the mall but because of the volume of people in the mall, I like to keep my feet covered for protection, just in case somebody step on my foot.

See you at the mall this weekend ladies!

Hi ladies, I know it been a long while, I have tons of finds for the past two months (long hiatus but that didn’t stop me from finding stuffs and I will share them here soon), I know we are half way thru our summer and I just cannot let this season pass without sharing to you my 2013 beach must haves. I have been on a weekend vacation thrice - destination the beach of course!

Just can’t go to the beach without these:

Maxi dress - Have to get another one with a different color, you cannot have enough options.

Bathing Suit/Bikini -  hey ladies, y not?

Evian Facial Water Spray - It’s really too hot out there, I use this to keep my face cool, and to supply vital moisture to my face.

Banana Boat SPF 50 - I apply it 15mins before I go out and every after 30mins.

Organix Light Moroccan Argan Oil - My hair has recently ungone hair coloring & digital perm, so it needs a lot of protection.

Music Angel - its so handy and amazingly loud, instant party by the beach.

Enjoy the rest of the summer ladies!

Travel tip: Packing accessories and makeup

Hello ladies, I’ve been away last week to have a vacation with some family and friends and as I was packing I had a little bit of a roadblock.  As much as I wanted to bring lots and lots of options, I have to limit my luggage to what I will just use on my five day vacation. Of course I don’t want a missing earring or a dent on my ring, or I don’t want my favorite foundation to spill on my make-up bag, so ladies let me give you some tips on how I pack my girly stuff.

For my accessories, I use mini ziplocks.  This little bags help my necklaces from being tangled, I place each accessories separately, before putting them in a small plastic box.

For my make-up, I use  bigger ziplocks before putting them in small cosmetics bags, this way my  brushes, face creams, blushes and eye shadows are organized. I put my lotions and even hair products in them too, just in case they spill, this way you won't have to worry about your make-up case.

Im sure you'll be going on a vacation this coming holiday, whatever you plan to pack, remember to pack lightly, you might come across a fabulous find!

Hair TLC: My hair care ammo

Happy Friday love cats ! Don’t you love it when your hair looks and feels good? But there are days that our crowning glory doesn’t sympathize with us, it usually takes tons of hair conditioner, leave on serum, blow drying and sometimes iron for it to look the way we wanted it to. Seriously
my hair needs a break from all this brutal daily routine, it needs some TLC.

Here’s two hair products that I cannot live without nowadays:

Its buy one take one!
I temporarily traded my hair conditioner with Watson’s Hair Treatment, I use a handful (yes its Hair TLC!) of this whenever I shower. Try to put more on the ends, they are the thirstiest.

My hair loves and I love Organix, Moroccan Argan healing Oil! Our hair needs protection from all the styling we do to it. Just apply a small amount to hair after washing, not only it protects, it mends and heals split ends, tames fly-away and smoothes out your hair without weighing it down, because it’s dry oil! Plus it gives shine to your locks too.

Enjoy your weekend ladies and wear your hair down..

Spruce up your Flip Flops

My friend Lani and I like to DIY (do it yourself) things so much and last Friday, when she treated us to a Korean Dinner (so much Kimchi & Samgyupsal!) the decision to whether put flowers or buttons on her new flip flops was never resolved. So in light of the unfinished and unresolved decision, I’ve put up choices of DIY designs to spruce up one’s Flip Flops. These designs are my favorites that I’ve seen from all the DIY lovelies out there.

Yes we’ll be saying goodbye to summer soon, but I could never stash away my trusted flip flops, it’s one of my year round must have.

Scent 411: Eau de Parfum/Eau de Toilette/Eau de Cologne

Another weekend had come and passed, and what’s so lovely about these breaks are the inspirations I get to share to all of you. Beauty insight was shared thru familiar friends (Joy of Novagen Pharma) and as you know I’m a beauty junkie, and nothing seems to excite me than a little bit of tips and info I get from small chit chats.  An interesting point that I am eager to share to all scent lovers out there is the difference of Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette and Cologne.  Do you know how they are different from each other?  Well ladies heres the lowdown:

Eau de Parfum – (oh dÉ™ pahr/fah) is heavy on oils and light on alcohol.  The Intensity of oil is greater, than Eau de toilette. It is estimated that 70% of it can be lost after a few hours but 30% will remain 24 hours thus they are more costly. Scent will bloom more if applied to wrist, elbow, neck and cleavage.

Eau de Toilette – (oh-dÉ™-twä-let\) is not as highly concentrated in oils, about 80% of it can evaporate in three hours. It is suggested that aside from applying it to selected parts of the body, misting a little to your clothes, scarves and handkerchief will bring pleasant effect.

Eau de Cologne – (oh-dÉ™- Kuh-LONE) the least concentrated of scents, so they have the least amount of time on the skin and can be dissolved in an hour.

I love fragrances, I personally believe that our scent defines us, and for me it completes the image we want to portray.  Just a few spritz can instantly hike up ones femininity.

Hope this coming weekend brings inspiration!

Vacation look update

Fresh from my five, work free day, im so excited to tip you with five summer trend that I have been seeing and sporting a lot lately. Though most of you already had your vacations, I am sure that because its only half way till we reach June, you’d still be going out on out of towns, beaches and summer activities with friends and family.  So these easy to find and budget friendly dos will surely update your vacation looks so that you could be as summer looking as the weather suggest.

The basic white T – who doesn’t have one in their closet? Weather you prefer round or V neck, I strongly suggest that you should get one right now. A casual white T never goes out of style. Pair it with a cut off denim shorts, the one that shows a little bit of the pocket from the inside.

Pastels – its time to trade those dark nail polish we have and get new hues, this time try pastel colors. I been seeing a lot of ‘tasty’ looking sky blue, peach-orange , lemon yellow, sea foam green and much more but personally I  prefer these two shades.

Hydrate – there is nothing cool and chic with chapped lips. Any lipstick shade look good with a well hydrated lips, to do this, I always primp my  lips with lip balm, my trusted brand is ChapSticks, but I been recently enjoying this Maybelline Baby lips, both are P70++ but not over a P100.

Arm Candy – stack your arms with colorful bangles, they instantly bring life and color to any outfit that you have on. Landmark has a lot of choices, prices ranges from P75 – P250 per set.

Pleats – I’ve tried this look late last year, but I wanted to carry it on til the summer time.  I was brave enough to pull this tangerine pleated skirt from the rack. I know this would look good when I pair it with a white t-shirt.  What do you think?

I wish you (had) an excellent work break and an unforgettable summer holiday!

Color Therapy

Shot by Al Bigornia, shawl by Ms. Gigi

Hi ladies, yes I’ve been lazy, bored, sick and momentarily lost my mojos. (losing enthusiasm)  I guess I need something to take away the unnecessary pressures that I put on myself and using colors through my daily wardrobe is exactly what I need and probably some of you can benefit too.  For centuries Color has been known to dramatically affect our health, inner harmony and even our emotions. Each color has its own frequency and vibration, so I think a pop of color to our everyday wardrobe can instantly make us feel better and more cheerful.

What’s your color choice today ladies?
RED - stimulates brain wave activity, increases heart rate, respirations and blood pressure, and excites sexual glands. It is associated with courage, strength, willpower and aggressiveness. Benefits maybe overcoming negative thoughts, self confidence, and a feeling of security and safety.

ORANGE - is warm and joyful. It connects to our emotional self. It is associated with sociability, success, happiness, and resourcefulness.  Benefits maybe optimism, expanded interest, anti-depressant and remove inhibitions.

YELLOW- is warm to hot. It connects to our mental self.  It energizes, relieves depression, improves memory, stimulates curiosity and interest and also helps with anxiety.

GREEN - has a calming effect and balances the nervous system. It is soothing, relaxing mentally as well as physically helps those suffering from depression, anxiety, nervousness.  It’s refreshing and cool. It connects us to unconditional love

BLUE - is calming and cooling to our system and hence, a good color to counteract hypertension. Spiritually it is the color of health and connects us to holistic thought.

So weather you have a bad mood, had your heart broken, sick or bored, play with colors, incorporate them in your outfits.  Remember you are the color you choose. Have fun ladies and I hope all of you are feeling better already!

What to Wear if….you're a Wedding Guest

June has been the favorite month for weddings, but more couples opt to get hitched in December. In fact a friend of mine, (Hi Chayne!) and an officemate is tying the knot by the end of the year.  I think the festive mood might be one of the reason or companies are generous when giving V-leaves during this time. So in light of the coming “wedding season” and to the all too familiar question of “what shall I wear to the wedding”, I have put together a blog on wedding attire. Yes, it’s exciting to be invited but knowing the difference between “formal”, “semi-formal” or “casual” can sometimes leave us wanting to RSVP regret.

Well ladies, read on to know a few guide.

Formal – take out your cocktail dresses, tea length (about 4 inches above the ankle) or full length dress. Jewelry should be the best that you own. Don’t wear a skintight gown if dancing is a part of the event.  I prefer to wear neutral or dark colors with minimal beading/sequins. Wear appropriate shoes and hair up is a must.

Semi-formal – usually the trickiest! Wear a short skirt (I don’t mean mini skirt!) something tasteful and flowy.  The dress does not have to be full length, but a length just about your knees is alright.  For footwear, no flats, sandals or ballet flats, only your best shoes, strappy sandals and glam pumps will do.

Casual – For day events, dresses and dress suits that fall below the knee, dressy tops with dress pants made of appropriate fabric will do. No denim. If its summer, choose a dress in floral print or don’t hesitate to go for bold colors such as yellow. A fun skirt with sleeveless or button –up shirt will also be appropriate. Hair worn down and loose is one casual wedding style, and remember your shoes can make or break your outfit, flirty heels, peep toe, sling back or sandals are ok.

Beach wedding – Beach means you have to walk on the sand and endure the elements during the ceremony. Choose a light color so you will be cool and comfortable. Fabric made of linen is an excellent choice, it can be formal looking yet very light weight. If its a summer beach wedding, find a light sundress for daytime (sleeveless or off-shoulder), or a long elegant dress that feels beachy for an evening.

However tricky dressing for a wedding maybe, always keep in mind that the No.1 goal is not to upstage the bride. Hope this helps, have a good time and don't forget to catch the bouquet!
