Guilty? Grossest Beauty Habits

Hello and Happy Friday Ladies! Two days ago I read an article on Cosmopolitan about the grossest beauty things every woman does and I would like to share some of them to you which I think most of us plead guilty to. I know this is not one of those articles that would help improve a skill or inspire but I believe it would raise awareness for us that the list below is unacceptable and we shouldn’t have to overlook and tolerate it as a habit.

1.  Popping Pimples – first on the list, and I plead guilty! I just couldn’t resist, especially if it becomes the center of attention in my face. I have to pop it, though my mom would insist that I leave it alone when I whine so much about it. In the end, regretting it because it leaves a wound in my face.

2. Not washing make up brushes as often – according to Elle we should do it every two weeks. A recipe for breakouts is not washing brushes and sponges, so if you wonder why you have breakouts, it might be because you haven’t washed your brushes that often.

3. Not throwing out mascara – admit it, some of your mascaras are two years old. To avoid getting eye infection experts says we need to toss it out every three months. Blah! I’m not that rich to change mascara every 3 months, I say 6 – 8 months will do, agree?

4.  Removing chipped manicures by yourself – when bored (petiks) in the office or just watching a not-so -interesting TV show I do this, leaving a pile of nailpolish pieces on the table, not very chic.

5.  Squeezing nose to do extractions – not a pretty sight if we are caught doing this, it also leave an evidence (a very red nose) when we do it.  If a see a bunch of nasty whiteheads on my nose I try to extract it using a tissue. I’m not a pore strip girl; I rely on my microdermabrasion set to remove these every week.

6. Plucking a hair using your finger nails – that’s why I carry a tweezer in my bag always, but sometimes when I look in the mirror and I see a misplaced eyebrow, I do this.

There are other habits on the Cosmo list, I just included the ones I’m guilty with. I know 6 out of 14 is not an ideal number, but I will try to be mindful of them and avoid it.  How about you do you plead also on the list above? Try to ditch these habits and enjoy the weekend loves!

Dare to try - Caviar Nail Polish

Hi sweeties, I missed you all! I have been away for a while, because sometimes life gets tough, we have to go through a lot of stuffs, but thru it all, we just have to remember “Women (in our position) must make the best of their circumstances” 

That  being said, whatever it is that may be bothering us, or troubling us, we just have to carry thru.  Ladies I dare you to try something different, it’s cute, colorful, playful and of course chic!

Have you heard of Caviar Nailpolish? They have been a fad for sometime now, Ciate first introduce this style early last year. How does this work?

• After your mani, choose a nailpolish base, in my case I chose nude. Apply generously, about two coats.
• Sprinkle your newly applied nail with your microbeads (caviar) until it’s fully covered.  Fun part, but I recommend you to ask your boyfriend or friend to do this for you. Ciate kit includes a tiny funnel.
•  Press the beads gently to your nails. Repeat with other nails, be sure to wait 5-10 minutes to dry fully.
• Apply top coat, to secure the beads!

It’s a little bit tricky and requires a lot of patience, but in the end, looking at your hot new nails is all worth it.  Nail Caviar is a great effect for a night out, party girl alert!  Would you dare to try ladies?

Parisian Macaroon Mademoiselles?

Inspired by these tasty looking parisian macaroons*, I’m more drawn nowadays into getting as much pastel colored outfit, nail shades and accessories into my wardrobe essentials. Pretty pastel hues popped out all over the stores since the beginning of the year, and I was a bit antsy at first about following this trend, but they’re everywhere! – clothes, accessories, make-up, their prettiness is taking over. From lavender, mint green, candy pink, saturated coral, sky blue and lemon yellow, what’s not to love about these feminine color palette?  I know a lot you are girly girl too like me, so let’s not be afraid to wear them.  

Pastels can be a little tricky to wear so here are a few notes from fashion stylists:

1. Pair pastels with white and ivory (Neutral Colors)– grey is better than black. A timeless combination is pale grey and light lavender.
2. Skip the pearls, you don’t want to look like your fairy god-mother, opt for chic modern jewelry.
3. Avoid any ruched or ruffled pieces as they might appear a bit juvenile or prom-like.
4. Size up - pale shades are very unflattering when worn tight, choose a next size up and wear slightly looser..

Vacation look update

      Fresh from my five, work free day, im so excited to tip you with five summer trend that I have been seeing and sporting a lot lately. Though most of you already had your vacations, I am sure that because its only half way till we reach June, you’d still be going out on out of towns, beaches and summer activities with friends and family.  So these easy to find and budget friendly dos will surely update your vacation looks so that you could be as summer looking as the weather suggest. 

The basic white T – who doesn’t have one in their closet? Weather you prefer round or V neck, I strongly suggest that you should get one right now. A casual white T never goes out of style. Pair it with a cut off denim shorts, the one that shows a little bit of the pocket from the inside. 

Pastels – its time to trade those dark nail polish we have and get new hues, this time try pastel colors. I been seeing a lot of ‘tasty’ looking sky blue, peach-orange , lemon yellow, sea foam green and much more but personally I  prefer these two shades.

Hydrate – there is nothing cool and chic with chapped lips. Any lipstick shade look good with a well hydrated lips, to do this, I always primp my  lips with lip balm, my trusted brand is ChapSticks, but I been recently enjoying this Maybelline Baby lips, both are P70++ but not over a P100.

Arm Candy – stack your arms with colorful bangles, they instantly bring life and color to any outfit that you have on. Landmark has a lot of choices, prices ranges from P75 – P250 per set.

Pleats – I’ve tried this look late last year, but I wanted to carry it on til the summer time.  I was brave enough to pull this tangerine pleated skirt from the rack. I know this would look good when I pair it with a white t-shirt.  What do you think?

Color Mood, my november nail polish picks

      Happy Tuesday everyone, how was your weekend?  I feel like everyone is so busy that they forget to take care of their nails (..opps hello me!).  Ladies our nails are accessories, too! Besides we all know that hands and especially nails can tell a lot about woman, that’s why our nails should be well-groomed and well-shaped and of course painted with a trendy nail polish color. For this month, I choose 4 different colours to wear.

• Devotion – nudes and browns suits any length and shape of nails, also great choices for conservative workplaces or interviews

• Mint Frost - shimmery shades says elegance with attitude

All nailpolish are available for about Php 30 – 40 a piece, depending where you’re going to purchase.

• Fantasy red -reddish nail polish colors work better on short nails, it is a timeless shade, it’s the perfect basic choice that works for both formal and everyday events

• Black Velvet - dark colors look chicest on shorter nails, and do require more maintenance than lighter hues because chips are more obvious.

    Can’t decide? Sometimes it happens to me too, but don’t sweat you can try Ombre Nails, its gradation of colour, starting from dark to light, or light to dark, in the same tone of colours!

Weekend Finds: Cracked Nails Polish

              How's your weekend ladies? (and gents?) I had a very busy weekday and it flew by so quickly. So to balance that crazy week I arrange a meet/catch-up  date with one of my besties from high school last Saturday. (Hi Lani!) Destination, where else of course the mall!  Back then when we were in highschool we never miss going to the mall on weekend even just to window shop. We don’t have that much money then, just our limited allowances, so we just drool over shoes, bags, and accessories, and wait for the next sale event.  Sadly now that we do, we rarely get together because she also has a crazy schedule.  So this weekend we made sure we check-out as many stores as our feet will allow us.

                  
                 I’m not a big fan of nail art but this weekend’s favorite find was the shatter/cracked nail polish from Faceshop.  This trend was popularized by Miss Kathy Perry early this year.  This nail polish is a top coat that gives nails a cracked/leopard look. Cool, isn’t it? It comes in three colors, black,brown and gray. The beauty consultant from the shop recommends brown over hot pink and purple.  To save up and since I already have the hot pink, I followed her advice.
