Self-Love: My weekend vacation diary

A long overdue vacation just happened and Yes, I’m back to share my short but sanative and partly idyllic vacation date I had in a long while. It’s pretty obvious that I’ve been missing a lot in social media, it’s because a major purchase was made last year, though I can’t share what it is right now, I will in the near future. Sometimes this kind of big decisions can cause deprivation of the things we really enjoy and forget to be good to ourselves. It’s because of that drive to achieve that occasionally our minds forget to be kind to our body and soul. So today let’s delve on the subject of self-love, because in this crazy hectic blurring and sometime unrealistic world we live in, it’s really important to take that time off – not once in a while but YOU REALLY HAVE TO MAKE TIME FOR IT. Whether it’s about cutting-off that annoying person (a.k.a ghosting, link here), taking a holiday or simply treating yourself to what you like is paramount to self-care/love.

Happy to be making memories with
this one!
Enumerating ways of self-care and by some degree my romantic weekend in photos below:

a.   Ghosting – discussed about it on the last entry, and I never realized just how freeing it is when I totally eliminated a seemingly harmless tattler. Turns out someone’s constant negativity unhelpfully drags you.

b.  Take a break – go on a holiday, if you don’t have a reason why, well now you do. Self-love, your body and mind need a break, it needs to unwind, relax, recharge and heal to be able to function 100% again. I been putting off having a vacation for that major purchase, but it seems feeble and definitely missing out making precious memories with that travel buddy. Ladies YOLO!

Never travelling without a hat, or another
reason to get one on your next travel.
c. Do Self-Love – Make time for days where you either give in on food and splurging on something you think you absolutely deserve. Love yourself enough to be honest with what you really want. Other ways are grooming, cooking healthy for yourself, creating a clean, organized and pleasing aesthetic home environment to make you feel more relaxed.

d.    Disengage – probably toughest but can be done, it’s what I did mostly for a few months. Staying neutral and unseen for quite some time made me focus more on people who are dear to me. It created a higher quality of link to individuals who are significant in my life.

Above are all really simple, I guess it’s my way of just reminding you to make time for whatever brings you joy – Love yourself! And ladies, I’ve been away for a while, but I will never be permanently gone from sharing and hopefully inspiring all of you.

xoxo,

Clyde

Outfit on Repeat

I’m a repeat offender – opps! Nothing really law breaking but I am that type who repeats outfits especially if the clothes flatter my body, get lots of compliments and just because sometimes I just really really love them. I remember being called out one time (an ex-boyfriend) by wearing a piece of clothing so much, I was offered to go shopping. It’s a bit offensive but having it said by somebody who is close to me ….. I took it as an opportunity – hello shopping! Sharing this personal experience, I‘m now more sparked to write down the dos & don’ts of wearing your favorite outfits.

Its OK to repeat an outfit, just remember:

Skirt by VGY
Grace period – establish a timeline, give it a couple of weeks before you wear the same piece of clothes again, or at least wait for the laundry day.

Change accessories – one thing you could do if you can’t help but showing off your new find is by selecting a piece of accessory that pops, this way it redirects the attention to the accessory and not the clothes, making it unnoticeable that it’s on repeat.

Same occasions – never repeat an outfit with the same kind of occasion, example the same dress cannot be worn on another wedding, this can resonate to style laziness. Alter it by investing on a new piece that can be paired or dressed down on another occasions.

Be creative – sometime by just rolling up the sleeves, popping up the collar, and unbuttoning a few buttons will create a new look for the outfit – let your creative style come out!

Basics – if it’s a basic then its OK, there are so many ways to make a basic look different. Basic pieces are not the ones that will stand out but the printed ones or the statement pieces are the things that will stick to the memories of your friends.

Ladies these a just a few suggestions, but the most important one is to have fun when dressing up. If you’re a shopaholic then this isn’t a dilemma, if not relax, you don’t need to spend much on clothes, what is important is the way you carry your clothes and your personality!

Eating Etiquette: How to eat tricky fruits and vegetables

June means weddings, bachelorette and summer parties, and who is not excited? Most of the worry would probably be about what to wear if you’re a wedding guest (don’t fret! my suggestions here), and the least would be about consuming tricky fruits and vegetables when eating out with ten other unknown guest at a common table. For most of us, hello me about 7 years ago, I would normally observe first before diving in, about 2 or 3 awkward minutes of pretending to be looking at my phone or somewhere. Yikes! Today let’s navigate how to eat tricky fruits and vegetable and come prepared for your next dining occasion.

Fruits

Banana – if you don’t want to be seen eating banana the primal way, hold, peel and bite there is always the option of using a fork.  Peel it fully and use a fork to cut into bite size pieces.

Melon and Watermelon – most of these fruits are already served pre-cut bite size pieces, but if it isn’t and you can’t resist, fruits with rind can be eaten by sliding the knife under the flesh, and sectioning it into pieces and eaten with a fork.

Grapes
Do not pick it individually, use your fingers or ask for a scissor to cut a bunch.

Grapefruit & Orange – I would like to eat grapefruit especially after coffee during breakfast, do you know that it's considered a fat-burning food that can kick-start your metabolism? It will take forever to peel them since the rind is very hard, cut it into half and eat with a pointed spoon, but do not attempt to squeeze out the juice. For oranges, its best when peeled by knife in spiral and eaten by sections.

Lemon – often cut into wedges and served as garnish. It is polite to cup your hand around the lemon while squeezing so you don't spray those around you, and squeeze the lemon low over your plate, not up high.

Vegetables

Peas – to avoid the peas from rolling out of your plate, use the back of the fork to squash it or use the aid of other dish, like mashed potato before scooping it with your fork. Spearing a couple is also recommended.

Corn – messy but delectable finger food. Do not butter the entire corn, season it or butter by sections. Hold the ends by hand and eat by rows, do this as neatly as possible without making loud sounds.

Salad leaves – sometimes the leaves are too large and if we shove it in our mouth we end up smearing our cheeks with the dressing. I usually go for the fork and knife. I use the knife to fold the greens over the fork before spearing some other topping of the salad.

Sometimes how we eat particular food in our home isn’t just right in public, better be reminded than be unrespectful and be perceived as no manners by others.  If confronted by unfamiliar food, it’s always OK to ask a friend/host or take the cue from other diners.

Whatever party your attending this week, have fun and stay sober!

Guilty? Grossest Beauty Habits

Hello and Happy Friday Ladies! Two days ago I read an article on Cosmopolitan about the grossest beauty things every woman does and I would like to share some of them to you which I think most of us plead guilty to. I know this is not one of those articles that would help improve a skill or inspire but I believe it would raise awareness for us that the list below is unacceptable and we shouldn’t have to overlook and tolerate it as a habit.

1.  Popping Pimples – first on the list, and I plead guilty! I just couldn’t resist, especially if it becomes the center of attention in my face. I have to pop it, though my mom would insist that I leave it alone when I whine so much about it. In the end, regretting it because it leaves a wound in my face.

2. Not washing make up brushes as often – according to Elle we should do it every two weeks. A recipe for breakouts is not washing brushes and sponges, so if you wonder why you have breakouts, it might be because you haven’t washed your brushes that often.

3. Not throwing out mascara – admit it, some of your mascaras are two years old. To avoid getting eye infection experts says we need to toss it out every three months. Blah! I’m not that rich to change mascara every 3 months, I say 6 – 8 months will do, agree?

4.  Removing chipped manicures by yourself – when bored (petiks) in the office or just watching a not-so -interesting TV show I do this, leaving a pile of nailpolish pieces on the table, not very chic.

5.  Squeezing nose to do extractions – not a pretty sight if we are caught doing this, it also leave an evidence (a very red nose) when we do it.  If a see a bunch of nasty whiteheads on my nose I try to extract it using a tissue. I’m not a pore strip girl; I rely on my microdermabrasion set to remove these every week.

6. Plucking a hair using your finger nails – that’s why I carry a tweezer in my bag always, but sometimes when I look in the mirror and I see a misplaced eyebrow, I do this.

There are other habits on the Cosmo list, I just included the ones I’m guilty with. I know 6 out of 14 is not an ideal number, but I will try to be mindful of them and avoid it.  How about you do you plead also on the list above? Try to ditch these habits and enjoy the weekend loves!

Bra-blems solved!

Hello ladies and hope everyone is having a good rest beacuse of the long weekend. Today's post is very intimate, and Im sure most of you can relate to. I remember realizing that I've been wearing the wrong bra size since Miranda's scene on the famous HBO show Sex and the City.  (Scene uploaded by gejowka: link here)  Right after that, I did consult a salesperson and read a bit more about correct bra fittings. Indeed getting the right bra style, size and cup  felt more comfortable and I felt more free.

Below are some Bra-blems I'm sure you've experience, plus throwing in also some suggestions  on how to resolve them.

1. Slipping Straps - very annoying and not sexy (unless your inside the bedroom with the hubby) ... to avoid SS, make sure your bra is put on correctly, pull it   down at the back so its under your shoulder blades and even with the front. If your bra is too high on the back,  it might be causing the strap to fall off your shoulders.

2. Back Band riding up - if this is happening to you, clearly you are wearing the wrong bra size. Get a correct fit, the one that will be snug and create a straight line across the back. If bra is too loose it will surely ride up, and front side will sag. It might also be a sign that your bra is old, and has stretch out, therefore it needs replacement.

3. Straps digging in - bra straps should'nt cause pain, it should not also be the one holding up your breast, it should be lifted by the band underneath and not lifted by the straps. Again it might help to consult a salesperson to get the correct bra size and kind. Feeling awkward having to measure it for you, check out Thirdlove app to get your correct bra size, all you need is five minutes, supportive bra, tank top and a wall mounted mirror.

Below's a guide from Thirdlove for other bra problems and their solutions so won't never have to worry about these Brablems.

I hope sharing this helps ladies! When you decide to get a couple of new ones, please check out Thirdlove; they make really comfortable and cute bras! They have a wide collection called 24/7 which has that luxe feel and functionality. To get a 15% off  when you order, use the code: BRABLEMS"

Weekend Reminder: Housemate Rules to peacefully Co-exist

Hooray to Friday, it’s been awhile Ladies. I know this space is about sharing fab finds, sweet deals, and making everything else pretty, but today I am inserting Ladylike Laws to peacefully co-exist with your roommates/housemates.

Sometimes having to live with an unfamiliar person can be very very tricky, and (ha ha) annoying, but Ladies that shouldn’t be the case. Dressing and looking good isn’t the only recipe to be fully truly beautiful but having that feeling of peace and calmness in your own house, makes a better you. Here are my 5 pointers to help you maintain the Zen in your home.

The Décor – kitchen, living, dining and laundry areas are shared, your style might not be their style. Be considerate to consult before adding anything or making a drastic change.  These shared spaces design should be mutually agreed upon.

The Kitchen- Do your own dishes, that’s the most important. If the utensils and cookware are both for everybody’s use be attentive enough to make sure that it is clean, and no food residue will remain on them ( I personally have horror stories about this, Yikes!).  This creates the most resentment if one has to constantly clean and wash the dishes, follow the Last Touch Rule! The one who uses last should always be responsible to wash it.

The Food – if you want to share food, I think it’s also ok to split the cost evenly. Oversharing sometimes can lead to a misconception that your food is free. Let them know and ask politely, we don’t want money matters to be the cause of an argument. And oh remember people are happy to share but eating their treats … ask permission.

The Guest – always give your housemates a heads up if you have family, relatives and friends who are coming over. More importantly talk and discuss if the stay is for an extended period of time, not cool if you overlook this, the golden rule: be considerate.

Your Behaviour – admit that many of us girls are passive aggressive – to translate tendency to be bitchy. I have read and reposted this – To be a Lady, never let another’s rudeness, diminish your good manners.  Sort out the facts and calmly talk to your housemates to figure out a solution. Some people aren't confrontational but if we don't try this and just let the bitchiness go on, no peace will be achieved.  Keeping your composure while being thrown into a difficult situation is a lifelong skill that is essential.

They say its hard to find "the one", I agree I also have my fair share of my horror flatmate stories, but as you experience these unpleasant things you also get to learn something which can lead to you being the best roomie one can ask for.

Shout out to my flatmates, Carla and Faye who manages to still keep the zen in our now called home.  Enjoy the weekend loves, only pillow fights are allowed.

 xoxo,
Clyde

My two weekends in Photos

I miss putting up an outfit and sale finds here on the blog, blame it on the very busy work week, including Saturday, I don’t have that much time to write and take photos.  But thankfully, the work shift has now allowed me to be free every weekend. I already enjoyed my 3 work free weekends, and now I am ready again to commit on posting great finds, and sharing my inspirations to keep everything chic and lovely!

Ladies, let me share my past 2 weekends in photos, I get to wear the other floral romper which I purchased some time ago, (click here for the link), get a new hat, just because …… I know it’s not a typical outfit accessory but a good floppy hat really helps especially when you are walking around on a sunny day.  Aside from getting it for only $5, yes believe it! , the color really helps up to brighten your OOTD.  So without further ado, here are my off days summary in photos!

This maroon Floppy Brim Hat completes my OOTD, I got it online for $5 only.

Enjoyed the day with these ladies.
