Lovely
Wednesday ladies, today I’m going to share to you my Oil Pulling experience. You know I would try almost anything especially
when it comes to staying healthy, beauty regimen, product or treatments. But
first, what is Oil Pulling?
Oil Pulling is
an ancient Ayurvedic dental technique that involves swishing a tablespoon of
oil in your mouth on an empty stomach for around 10-20 minutes. This action
supposedly draws out toxins in your body. When you oil pull, you increase the
production of saliva and the toxins in your saliva get trapped in the oil. This
helps improve oral health and also aids overall health.
I'm using this brand, got it for $12 |
How
to do it?
- Pick an oil- Most people use coconut oil, because it has a strong antibacterial properties. I’m using Organic Coconut Oil.
- Take a tablespoon of it and swish it for about 10-20 mins. This is best done first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach. Think of it as a natural mouth wash.
- After 20 minutes, spit it out on the toilet or trash, not on the sink as it will clog your drain.
- Swish warm water and brush as you normally would.
I
know some of you might not like the idea of swishing oil, it wasn't easy for me
too on my first and second day, gag reflexes a few times, but because of the
detoxifying properties and of course beauty, onward I went! The coconut oil smells wonderful, like macaroon
and sugar cookies and oil is basically tasteless, so on my fourth day I was
used to it and would actually look forward to do it first thing in the morning.
It’s
been two weeks my mouth did feel WAY cleaner afterward, my teeth have been less
sensitive to cold too. I don’t know about the other effects, but it
claims to whiten teeth, strengthen gums/teeth, prevents cavities & gingivitis,
general body detox, helps get rid of
acne and other skin care issues and even helps cure hangover. Love it or hate it, but ladies it’s a thumbs up for me, a very inexpensive way to get rid of body toxins
and bacteria in your mouth.
What’s
your crazy morning routine? Smile ladies, let me know if you’re willing to try
Oil Pulling.
xoxo,
Clyde
